how do i fix a smalled drilled out hole in my floor (cable tv had been run through it)?

An unnamed company drilled a small hole in a carpeted room to run a cable through for tv. I need to know how to patch it up so it looks like it never happened. They were not supposed to do this and our landlady will be pretty upset. The hole is only about the size of a penny. I considered going into the crawl space super gluing a small piece of wood under the floor and then filling in with flooring caulk. Will this work or do I need to do something else.

Measure the size of the hole . Go to your local Home Depot or Lowe’s and buy a wooden dowel rod the same size as the hole . Cut a small piece and glue it in the hole . Thats what I did for a hard wood floor in a rental house that the couple keep moving the TV around the room .

yes you can fix it with a dowel or any piece of wood cut and used as a plug.
put some glue on it as well and leave it a little proud then sand it down stain if need be to match the existing colour.
another way is the make a plug out of wood but make sure the grain is going in the same direction as the floor this will give a more authentic feeling rather than using a common plug method as your plug will be side ways on and the pattern of the grain will show.

You said the room is carpeted, so your problem is not fixing the subfloor, but the carpet.

Pull up the carpet and pad, tape (duct tape is fine) over the hole in the subfloor, this will keep bugs out. Put the pad back down. Tape over the hole in the carpet from the underside, put the carpet back down.

Now you may have a "dent" in the carpet because drilling the hole damaged some of the shag. Go to the back of one of your closets, and pinch about a penny-sized cluster of shag, and cut the shag off with scissors as far down as you can. Return to the hole you’re trying to patch. Drip some glue into the "dent", then gently push your pinch of shag into it. Let the glue throughly over night.

In the morning you will have shag that sticks out of the "dent", kind of like an unruly patch of hair. Take your scissors and carefully cut down the transplanted shag down to the level of the shag around it. Vacuum that area so the shag is all uniform, nobody should be able to see it.
